lightening up the load (uninstalling hot fixes?)

I I have around 60 hotfixes in my uninstall list and 1 security update
for the os as well as a few hotfixes for some of the add ons.Got this
old laptop as a gift and I don't have the original OS disk. my question
is: can I uninstall all of these hot fixes and while still on line just
hit the update button and let the update service figure out how to put
it back together. . in other words are the hot fixes cumlitive? .Will
this work. Will this help strip the registry of cumlative crap? Windows
2000 sp4 slow to load and slow to shut down. Thanks all.

Uninstall them? Why would you want to? The service pack and updates are a
necessary part of the operating system.
