Lexmark Z605 and USB under WinME

A friend has attempted to install a Lexmark Z605 via USB onto a WinME
machine and it appears that the printer is not communicating with the PC. I
have tried , as best I can, to talk her through it over the phone and as far
as I can see everything has been done correctly but it still doesn't work.

I plan to visit and try and sort it out - does anyone have any ideas?

My plan was to
a. plug in a powered USB hub and try it through that
b. install a digital camera to test the USB capability separately from the
printer and
c. ensure that the USB is enabled on the PC. I think it is but I will double
check that.

Any advice welcome.

1. TOSS THE LEXMARK IN THE TRASH
2. BUY A CANON IP5200
3. INSTALL WIN XP OR WIN2K PRO
