hi all

iver got an acer aspire 1350 laptop - but nolonger works

when i turn it on it will load most of the way up - but i get and error message saying that there is a problem with BROWSEUI.dll and if i reinstall it, it might work

when i click ok or cancel it loads up a blue screen, as if it was in windows but with out the start button or any short cuts

all i seam to beable to do - is open the task manager - where i can run some programs

i cant connect online, use my dvd driver or usb key - so i need another way to transfer the BROWSEUI.dll file

also tried to install windows - but cant as i cant get into bios or use my dvd drive

any idears ?

Can you load up in safe mode (F8 on startup)?

cant boot up in safe mode with F8 key - and F2 key also dosen't work

When i start my laptop up i get to the login screen where i click on kenny - then get this meassage

the error meassage i get is

Explorer.exe - Unable to locate component
This application has failed to start because BROWSUI.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

Explorer.Exe is actually your desktop, not to be confuses with IE, though they use the same program ... nice of MS to add confusion.

ok, if you can use Task Manager, go to File/New Task (Run) and type in sfc /scannow notice the space there... you will need your XP CD in the drive ready. It may take some time.

This is not an upgrade from Win98 or WinME, is it?

If that don't work then you need access to F8 & your CD drive. :thumb:

i dont have the xp home disk - but have a system restore disk and 2 restore disks

i tried sfc /scannow anyway and used the system restore disk, it said i have invailid system file and they need fix - but either the disk is wrong or my cdrom isnt working.

i can use task manager to access msconfig and im able to go in safemode

i also have xp pro which i use on my main pc - should i try to install that ?

not sure what i did, but i can now also access my bios with F2

Home & Pro are different ... you can use someone else disk though.

Well unless you get access to the CD drive there ain't much one can do. :)
