laptop goes to standby on its own

I have a Toshiba laptop, XP v2, Intel 2.0 Ghz, 1Gb Ram, 60Gb hd, that is
about 4 years old. Also, it is configured to dual boot to Linux (Red Hat).
I use Norton Anti-Virus, Diskeeper, Zone Alarm Pro, and I back up about every
2 weeks.

Recently, it goes to standby on it's own. I can press the "power" button and
occasionlly it will come back, other times it will open up and go right back
to sleep.

I have had serious issues before and my advisors suggested possible processor
problem, because they couldn't find any issues with my Ram or my hd.

Do you have any suggestions on what is going on, can you advise me on what to
do, or how to check my processor?

Also, I suspect that it could be my backup software that is prompting these
issues. The reason that I mention this, is when all of these "critical"
issues started poping up was when I installed the backup software. CMS -
Bounce Back, it is the name of the software. I purchased an external 300 Gb
hd, because I wanted a way to backup my data, I know that accidents happen.

TIA for your help!

Check Power Settings.Make sure Standby is not
set to activate.
Also check the BIOS.In case of laptop there is a separate power saver
utility you may try that one.
Have you recently added or changed any hardware/software?
Regarding your suspected processor issue it's wise to contact the near
by Toshiba servicing center.
