lanmanworkstation slow at startup

my laptop start up super slow. even with my upgraded 1 gig ram. i checked the
services using services.msc. and found out that its the workstation service
that is lagging. it took arnd 3mins to startup. im running on a network and i
canot disable it. what is the problem with the service?

In My Computer,tools, map network drive, uncheck the 'reconnect at logon'
checkbox(es).
