Slow Startup

I have a slow start-up on my Toshiba P25-S487 laptop. I
am running WindowsXP Home. I have 512 of RAM and a 60 gig
HD. As suggested in response to another question, I
ran "msconfig" and saw the extensive list of programs
that run at start-up. Most are names I don't recognize
and can't associated with programs on my machine, i.e.
NvCpl, nwiz, ccApp, Ltmoh, and on and on. In total I
counbred 32 items listed in the startup.

Can anyone tell me where I can get a "translation" of the
truncated names listed, so I can determine if I want (or
need) them at startup; or which programs are essential to
run at startup and which are optional?

Thanks

Every entry U have can be found here

http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php

Type each entry in the Search box at the top. Note the STATUS and if an X or an N then
remove them and in my experience the "U" status ones can be as well.

I would also remove your Pagefile.sys and then re-instate it after a reboot, if you are not
sure how, post back here. That can help start-up speed times and certainly does for
shut-down
