Kodak EasyShare Upgrade DISASTER, how can I undo it?

P

I have not upgraded EasyShare since 2005 because that was a mess. I stupidly
upgraded to 6.0 and it is a nightmare. My photo albums in EasyShare that
took hours and hours and days to construct are gone! When I open EasyShare
the photos on the computer screen are gray, fuzzy, poor resolution and color.
I want to reverse this and go back to where I was before. Can I undo the
upgrade and retrieve all my photo albums in EasyShare? I know there is a
conpatibility issue with WindowsXP that Kodak does not acknowlege but I can't
seem to fix it. I have had a problem since my first EasyShare upgrade with
the display coming up 8 bit color and has to be reset to 32 bit color but
then it was great.....this mess is awful! HELP!!

I'm not positive the following suggestion will
solve the issue but it may be worth a try:

Do a System Restore to a time before you
installed the EasyShare upgrade.

System to a Previous State in Windows XP

If the restore fails to complete...try doing it
in Safe Mode.

Well, I have tried and tried but it will NOT let me restore the system to an
earlier date. Everything is all mess up now on my toolbar. I lost 3 short
cuts on the toolbar and several things are open on it that were not there
before. I will now attempt to do it in safe mode. THanks,

I was able to do a system restore in Safe Mode and go back before the
upgrade. It put a lot kodak files in a folder to rename or something, I
assume those were the upgrade files. Everything is fine except I can not
longer open up Kodak or Easy Share at all. Thanks for the help, any further
advice?

New Question on this same problem. In 2005, when I had the same exact issues
between EasyShare and WindowsXP someone on this same ms site advised me to do
start-run-regedit then navigate to Hkey_Current_User\software and delete the
Kodak folder and do the same with HKey_Local_Machine_software then restart
and reinstall. This worked at the time but I am scared to do it now without
advise. I was able to retrieve and open my photoalbums in EasyShare and une
the older version of EasyShare I just had to reset the color every time I
opened it because it went to 8bit color and the display had to be reset to
256. Would this work now? I have the old CD to the original EasySHare. IT
appears that almost 3 years later Kodak still has not made their software or
their upgrades compatible with XP even though they claim it is and that
upgrading will solve all problems.

My only suggestion was to try System Restore...
apparently it did not solve the problem.

Maybe you can find some useful info on the
Kodak site:

Try their telephone customer support. I always found them very helpfull and
it is free. If I could not be provided with an instant answer, they always
phoned me back later with the answer. Your user guide should provide with a
free phone number to call where ever you are in the world.

Good luck!

Serge
