Kicked out of sites

I am not sure this is an IE6 problem but only happens with IE. In sites where
I am signed in I get kicked out, back to the sign in page. I can be in Yahoo!
read an email click on reply write an answer and click send and I get kicked
back to the signin page (and the email was not sent). I can be in eBay
clicking on items I am watching, bidding on, selling, etc., and then click on
say MyeBay and get bounced to the sign in page. It even happened just now
trying to send this, I clicked on post and I got zapped to the signin page.
There is no rhyme or reason as to how long I am in a site, how many clicks I
do, I am just randomly thrown back to the signin page.
Anyone else having this problem? How do I fix it?
Thanks.

lately?

Disk is less than half full and I do use Norton to delete temp files and
cookies on a very regular basis..

Alright - I'm not fluent in all things Norton but does it have a privacy
option that is perhaps eating your cookies after a short time? That would be
where I'd start my journey to debug this. Logins are stored in cookies,
they're cached on your PC to authenticate against their database so that you
can remain logged in without needing to re-enter your credentials over and
over again. The life of the cookie depends on what they've set it for or, in
the case of some forums, on what you've set it for - e.g.. SMF for instance.

Assuming that's not the problem one might actually look at your cookie
settings and figuring out if any/all sites that you frequent do this. Do
they have their authentication from one site and you have third party
cookies disable for the Internet Zone? Does this happen in an alternative
browser? If the sites are in your Trusted Zone do they work just fine?
Additionally I would look to see what your settings were for cookies - have
you or anyone else altered the settings from Medium?

There is no clear answer - I don't have the capacity to point and say, "This
is the problem and here is the fix." I wish I did but the possibilities for
this are nearly endless but generally will follow something from the above
information.
