KEYED IN text in title/slide master NOT part of template??

I go to master view and key in text in the placeholders of both slide master
and title master. Then, I save the file as a template and close PPT. When I
reopen PPT and I apply the new template, I can't see the text in the
placeholders.

If I do the above substituting "keyed in text" with "WordArt," I have no
problem seeing the words.

Why is this happening? Is this some kind of a system thing?

Apprciate advice.

The text in the Placeholder cannot be changed. The text you should see on
the slides (in Normal View) is "Click Here to Add ...." If you want text
to appear on every slide, you have to add a text box (this text box will
not be a placeholder) to the Master. As you have discovered, if you add
other objects (such as WordArt) to the Master, they will also appear on
every slide.

Previously, I have read about the definition of a placeholder and a text box
respectively. They sounded very similar and I couldn't really tell the
difference. I think I am getting to see the difference now.

Thanks, Dave.
