Date - Page # not showing up

Seems like this should be easy.
- Created a new Master Slide.
- Selected "Date" and "Page Number" from the "Master Layout" options.
- Formatted the placeholders.
- Placed a colored box in the footer (sent to back).
- Set the placeholders on top of the box (brought to front).
- Created new Layout.
- Added Title and Text placeholders.
- Formatted the placeholders.
- Closed Slide Master view.
- Created new slide using the new Master Layout.

No date, no page number show up.

Thank you for the reply, John.

I am trying to create a template for others to use. I would rather not have
to explain to my users they have to perform this step manually themselves.

I mean, isn't this exactly the sort of thing one would include in a Master
Layout?

Hello! I'm having the same problem as Froggy and despite doing what you
suggested it doen't work. I'm using PP 2007 and I have a slide masters (two
sets, one set with a footer so that they will only apply to all slides except
the Title slide and another set so that my title slide is different from the
others). I did this because I couldn't figure out in 2007 how not to apply
the footer I created to the title slide alone in the master.

Now to my date/slide number issue: Whether I use insert from normal view or
the slide properities (don't know what it's called in the English version,
it's "mise en page" in French) to check the items I want on a master slide,
nothing displays in the slides. The slide within the master view where I
apply the checked date and slide number show them, but that's it. And yes,
when I use the insert -footer- or date& time- or number functions in normal
view I select apply and I also tried apply to all, and still nothing on my
slides.

Just a remark on the master slide view. I have noticed that when you try to
change a presentation alredy created by adding things to the sub or main
master slides, nothing shows up on the real slides.

Is PP 2007 still buggy?

Thanks!
