Some of the symbols on my keyboard have "moved about" like when I want to use
the @ sign I need to use the " instead and visa versa. This is OK but now
the pound sign has replaced itself with# and the opposite does not apply as
with the previous. It seems to have eliminated itself completely. Know its a
common problem but why does it happen and how can I fix it please. It is
really annoying.

Hi,

You probably are using the right kleyboard language, but for the wrong
country (like US as opposed to UK English). Control Panel/Regional and
Language Options/Languages tab, click details and check the settings tab.
