kernel32.dll problem

hi there!

i don't know if this is the right place... but here is my
problem...

since this morning, everytime i open some programs such
as games, spybot or media players (not everything, just a
few so far that i use frequently, so there may be others
programs that will get this error to) i get a message
appearing saying:

"the procedure entry point Ge could not be located in the
dynamic link library KERNEl32.dll"

i end up clicking on the OK button several times before
it goes away and the program then loads up.

Does anyone have a solution to this?

There are multiple ways to solve this, the easiest being roll back to your last checkpoint in system restore (start / all programs / accesories / system tools) as this would probably repaire the issue. Other things to try are : -

1 ) Boot into an NTFS capable dos propt and expand the kernel32.dll from original media or service pack cabs (not that good an idea)

2 ) Try running SFC, goto a command prompt ( start / run / cmd.exe ) and type SFC /SCANNOW (have your original media to hand)

3 ) Try re applying the latest service pack, sometimes sort's thing like this.

Hope that helps
