Keep Source Formatting doesn't save

I am putting multiple presentstions with different formats etc. together by
copying and pasting from slide sorters into one show. I use the "keep source
formatting" in the paste options and everything looks fine. I save the new
master show and close it and when I reopen it the formatting of text and
fonts of the added presentations has gone awry. Some are Ok and others are
not. Anyone else have this problem??

Probably you're being bitten by a known issue.

Basically, PPT applies the wrong slide master to the slide. Like it applies
the first master slide in the list of master slides. Or something like that.
I can't remember the details right now.

Microsoft recommends putting a different master slide first in the list, but
I think that runs the risk of having the problem happen to different slides.
So what I do is copy the text placeholders and paste them on the slide --
which makes them no longer placeholders. Delete the original placeholders
and reposition the copies.

Save a copy of the file and reopen it before doing this so you know which
slides you have to fix.

Thanks Echo,

My problem is that I am putting together all these presentations into one
master for live meetings onsite with multiple presenters handing me
diffferent formatted presentations and revisions close to showtime. I don't
have time to be copying and pasting all of the copy that is out of there
original format. My only workaround is to build a show and use the "keep
existing format" function, which looks fine and not save and close the file
because when reopend it throws a bunch of the shows out of whack. I tried to
save as a pps to see if that would work but the same thing happens. Some
times I leave the computer on all night if I received all of the changes the
day before a meeting! Oh well, isn't PowerPoint full of wonderful suprises.

I've been bitten -- and thoroughly embarrassed -- by the same bug in the
exact same scenario, Tom. Unfortunately, I can't offer you any better
workarounds.

If you leave the file open (a bit scary), be sure not to save it. The save
is the culprit, not the close.
