KB867801 Problem

Please help..
I have installed the critcal update KB867801 for
cumulative security update for Windows internet explorer
6 (SP1).
Unfortunately since this install whenever I attempt to
click on to an user account the windows system
automatically restarts (i.e. the system crashes, blue
screen when the automatically restart is disabled)

I have since uninstalled this critical update (in safe
mode) and I can successfully sign into user accounts with
no problem as before. Has anyone else experienced this
problem?

My internet explorer version is a follows:

6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422.1633IS
cipher strenegth: 128 bit
update versions: SP1, Q823353, Q832894, Q831167

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.

Thank you

There was a definite problem with this update. I had the same problems and
despite several messages to this newslist was told to look for viruses, etc.
Now, on its update site, MS acknowledges there was a problem and posted a
revised update dated August 1. My laptop was out of commission for 3 weeks
because of this update and XP's restore did not solve my problem. I finally
got it back to working shape because I have image backups made by Acronis
True Image 7. When I restored the partition from the image backup, all was
fine again.

See my previous message subject Microsoft acknowledges problems with update.
