Java version 6

I have three Java's, all J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Updates 5, 6, and 10.

Should I update to version 6?

If Yes, should I remove the three older programs before I update?

Thank you for your help.

If you are going to 6, you *should* uninstall all previous versions.
The truth is - when you update to a new Update level - you should probably
uninstall the old and just install the new.

BTW - they are on JRE 5 Update 11 as of yesterday I believe...

The new version of Java is, J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 11.
I have always deleted older version in Add\Remove Programs. Newest version
appeared as Auto download.

Update to the latest version available since previous versions are no
longer secure.

Yes.

This different sites employed by Sun for consumers and developers, corporate etc has always been confusing..

The consumer site(java.com) offers JRE 5 version 11 as the latest.
The main java.sun.com site offers JRE 6 as the latest, with platform 5 earlier versions(e.g. 9, 11) in the archive.

The consumer site when new platforms/versions are released historically lags the main site.

JRE 6 is the latest and recommended for XP and Vista having fixed/patched a few known issues.

None of the v5 update x should be trusted. Way too many vulnerabilities and many are
actively being exploited.

Remove *all* version 5 update x versions and then download v6 and install it.

Hi,
I have now updated to Version 6, after going to add/remove all older versions.
However when looking in C/Programme files, I see that there is still a
folder there with jre 1.5.0_6 This is not in my add/remove files. Can I just
delete it?

If there is nothing in there, yes, often times an uninstall routine leaves
the folder with some extraneous files, but the executables are gone.
