isass.exe error

One of our server running windows2000 is having this
system error:

lsass.exe - System Error : Security Accounts Manager
initialization failed because of the following error:
Directory Service cannot start. Error Status: 0xc00002e1.
Please click OK to shutdown this system and reboot into
Directory Services Restore Mode, check the event log for
more detailed information.

We've searched the MS knowledged base for solution and we
found one with the same description. We follow the
instruction stated there, to execute this commands under
safe mode command prompt (ntdsutil, files, info).
Unfortunately the problem still there, is there another
way to solved this error?

pls. help...

Hi Harold:
I typed "isass.exe virus" in Google
and got 12,100 hits in .06 seconds
Might be worth checking with an online virus scan
try:
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/
middle of the page
under virus definitions
third one
"Free... "
Give them one time authority (because Symantec is sooo
invasive)
If you get an infection, print the sheet
Google for the infection name + Symantec
They have the best fix sheets also
Oh, You need to fix it line by line or it's for nil
If on a server, I recommend you Format/Clean Install
You know the - "Been there, Done that" crap (well, I get
tired of it 2.

Good Luck,
don

If Pegasus sees this and knows it's a server, ask him.
He's my hero; (When I grow-up, well ;o)
