is it worth installing 2nd DC for 2 weeks ?

Hi,

Im running a single DC on a 2000 AD domain. Im considering running dcpromo
tool on an old machine (after installing 2k as a member server) and running
it as a 2nd AD domain controller (in the same domain). It would just be
running for a 2 weeks as I thought this would cover any AD problems while I
was out of the office.

Is it more likely to cause problems itself ? for example if the 2nd DC fails
what will happen to AD on the 1st DC ?

Will it require admin intervention to sort out AD on the 1st DC if the 2nd
DC fails ?

Thanks for any information.
Scott.

NOTE: im aware having a second DC is considered good practice but don't have
hardware resources at present for full time ideal solution.

Wrong newsgroup! This one is for Outlook.

Anyway; a second DC is very good practise indeed. Since they are "copies"
from eachother one can fail. Make sure you do move the Operations Master
roles to the correct server when the first one fails.
