Absolutely. It's the licence key you buy, not the CD.........

Tell your friend it would be best to order a
replacement for his missing Windows XP CD.
His version may be different than yours.

Generally yes, if everything is legitimate and he just needs a disc "just
in case" for, say, booting to the Recovery Console. No one would care as it
would come under "fair use".

When you say he has the same version, make sure it's the same in all
respects--Home vs. Professional, Retail vs. OEM, Full vs. Upgrade. If it's
truly the same, and he has a valid Product Key of his own, yes, it's OK.

It simply doesn't matter. As long as his copy is legitimate and you are not
doing anything illegal with the backup copy no one on earth could care less.
The XP EULA says you are allowed to make one "archival" copy for backup or
reinstallation.

If the XP versions are the same (OEM, Retail) and both are the same type (Home
or XP), I do not know if this is legit?

Never give out your CD Key. You can only ever have one CD key per PC.

Hi... I will say it again , Its EXACT same version , I know the
difference , I just want to know whether i am doing anything wrong by
doing this for a buddy ? Thanks

If the version happens to be OEM, then there can be two different versions in
general.

1) Heavily tweaked OEM version with some System Recovery media (Dell, HP,
Compaq, Gateway etc...)

2) Generic OEM install CD.

Sure it's OK - you buy the license ( Product Key), the disk is included
in the purchase price.

No, you're not. The license is what counts, not the CD.

Search for eula.txt on your computer and read it, then.

One cannot legally make a copy of their Windows XP
CD and give it to anyone as that would constitute a
form of software piracy. As i recommended earlier,
it would be best to have your friend order an authentic,
genuine, Windows XP CD replacement.
