IRFANVIEW

After installing S P 2, I am distressed to find that whenever I open
IrfanView, the Windows O/S restarts video in what seems like 'safe mode'. I
have no other problems.
The video card driver is NVIDIA 6.1.7.7.
The IrfanView version is 3.92.
Irfan Skiljan claims my video driver may be corrupt; so I rolled back the
driver. Still no luck is getting Irfanview to open normally. Does anyone
know a 'work around' for this problem?

Interesting that I found s similar problem but it appears that when
Irfanview starts it resets the windows desktop display so the taskbar is in
larger size letters as is Irfanview. The computer belongs to a friend and is
a new HP laptop (17 inch monitor) running Windows XP home. Will be checking
to see if someone has some input.
