Internet Options General Tab missing

My explorer 5.0 one day did not display the General tab
in the internet options choice under "tools". I deleted
the 5.0 version and downloaded the explorer 6.0 version
and the General Tab still does not appear under internet
options. The other tabs have always appeared (security,
privacy, etc.) but not the first one, GENERAL. How can I
recover that tab?
