Internet Explorer No Longer Loads

My mother downloaded service pack two and started the installation and then
got tired of waiting for it to load, so she turned the computer off. The
next time she started the computer it had her uninstall it. I then installed
the service pack for her but now Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer do
not work. You click on them and nothing happens. No error message just
nothing happens. Whats the best way for me to get things back working? This
is on an XP machine. Can I step back to a checkpoint?

I have done the same experience. The strange thing here is that I can get on
the net if I manually write the adress in Windows Explorer, but IE is
completely dead. Opera, Outlook and Messenger works as normal though. I tried
everything, but IE does not work. What is this and how can it be fixed?
