Internet Explorer 6 slow to load pages

Hello

Recently Internet Explorer 6 has gone very slow when loading web pages, even
pages I know are normally fats to come up! I am using a broadband connection
and normal e-,mail (Outlook EXpress) and FTP (separate program) all work
normally and at the proper connection speeds. On average I'd say it takes
about 1 minute to load a web page and sometimes a bit longer before all the
graphics have come up.

I have Norton Antivirus and Personal Firewall active. I have checked the
system
for spyware and adware and its all clean.

I tried removing all the windows updates to see if there was a problem from
that, and it's still slow to browse, almost like have a very slow dial-up
modem running!!!

I also have Netscape 7.1 and that showed a similar slow web browsing
problem. I'm wondering if there is a corrupt file somewhere, but have no way
of really identifying what it may be.

I'm not sure if this is a Windows XP (home) or Internet Explorer problem;
does anyone have some suggestions about what to try to resolve this? Is it
possible to repair or reinstall IE6, the version I have came with the
computer pre-installed.

System: Win XP
RAM: 512Mb
Broadband connect speed: 576kb
FTP (program): upload at 30KB/s; download at 60KB/s (same for web downloads
on average.

Thanks

Lester

Does it apply on all webpages or just a few? Get
NetStaeLive free from www.analogx.com and it will show you a
graph and numbers for your downloads and uploads.
www.pcpitstop.com has an on-line scanner that will test your
machine and report on detected problems.
