Internet Explorer 6.0 Search errors

I am getting the following errors when I try to use the
search function in Internet Explorer.

The requested URL /spresults.aspx was not found on this
server

and

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while
trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I also can not get any search engine, yahoo etc. to work.

Any suggestions on how to fix this, I have been trying
for a month now with no luck.
