Internect Connection

I have AOL as my primary ISP "piggybacked" to Cox Cable Broadband. Issue is
whenever I have a offline application that needs to connect to the internet,
such as Windows Help, AOL Sign In pops up for the connection instead of using
the Cox Internet connection directly, which is always on. Cox & AOL Help
desks have not been able to resolve this issue. We have checked all the
internet connection settings and startup options. I have noticed this over
the last month or so, but don't think this was going on before. Any ideas on
how to stop AOL from being the default connection? Roy

What does it look like in Internet Options, Connections tab? It should
be set to "Never dial a connection".

How about Network Connections? The LAN should be the default
connection, not AOL. You should set AOL to only open when you want it
to open, not when Internet access is required (if that's an option
within the tray icon, or within AOL).

Sorry if I'm overstating the obvious..

Originally had "never dial a connection" but removed all from Dial-Up box
since have no dial-up, just cable and didn't make any difference. The lower
LAN Settings box offers no default option; however, do have "Local Area
Connection 3" (my broadband cable modem) as first item in Advanced, Network
Connections on Control Panel. Somewhere, somehow, Aol is acting as default
ISP for my system instead of my cable provider, when I only want it operating
when I actually select it. Otherwise everything performs okay, just annoying.
