Intel Graphics Controller update

Hello,
After updating my Intel 82810E graphics controller driver, the
display settings/advanced no longer allows me to change the
color mgt. ('gamma, brightness, etc.') settings (the options
are no longer there).
- Windows Me upgraded to XP
- Intel 82810E Graphics Controller ver. 4.12.01.2576 updated
to ver. 6.3.0.1007 (MS Corporation - XP version).
When I try to 'roll back' or manually change the driver back to
the original, Windows warns me that XP is not a supported OS
and will not allow it.
Any thoughts will be appreciated - I have my monitor brightness/
contrast settings maxed-out and it is still too dim.

Thanks Treeman,
I already obtained & used the current driver DL from
the Intel site you recommended which is why I seem
to be 'stuck' with the XP version update.
As far as the control panel, I'm not sure... I can view
display settings ok, but the additional settings
(color management options) are not there anymore.
I can boot in Me (I have XP on D:/ and Me on C:/)
and change the settings with the older driver loaded,
but not so in XP with the newer one.
I am perplexed as to why such a 'standard'
functionality would be missing from an update.
Thanks for the response.

You may want to look at this MS KB Article:'After Upgrade '
Also you may want to use the last known drivers from Intel:
'Intel® 82810 ' (http://tinyurl.com/uchk)
Best,

Rockandroll2 -

I too am a victim of Intel's 82810E graphics controller (see 'Adding memory
causes system to hang' posting in Windows XP General 1/12/2006). I spent two
years trying to fix all the problems it was causing. It seems that Intel's
82810E is not meant to work with Windows XP. Intel is no longer fully
supporting this chipset. Also, according to Intel, "Some system providers
modify the reference driver to add or remove certain features before
validating the driver for use on their system." This may be the source of
your problem. The new drivers you downloaded may have stuff missing in them
in order to work in XP (or they just don't work in XP). This may not fully
answer your question. After two years I have not had any question fully
answered on this subject. Welcome to my world.

My solution was to disable the onboard graphics controller and install a new
video card. Works great!

Good luck,

Steve
