Intel 82810E graphics controller functionality issue

ALSO POSTED IN XP GEN. DISCUSSION 1/14 & 15/05:

After updating my Intel 82810E graphics controller
driver, display settings/advanced no longer allows
me to change the color mgt. ('gamma, brightness,
etc.') settings (the options are no longer appear in
advanced mode);
- Windows Me upgraded to XP
- Intel 82810E Graphics Controller ver. 4.12.01.2576
updated to ver. 6.3.0.1007 (MS Corp. - XP version).

When I try to 'roll back' or manually change the
driver back to the original (Me) version, Windows
warns me that XP is not a supported OS and will not
allow it. I obtained & used the newest driver DL from
the Intel site which is when I got 'stuck' with the XP
version update in the first place.

When I boot in Me (I have XP on D:/ and Me on C:/)
I can still change the settings with the older driver
loaded, but not so in XP with the newer driver.
I am perplexed as to why such a 'standard'
functionality would be missing from an update.??
Any thoughts will be appreciated - I have my monitor
brightness/ contrast settings maxed-out and it is still
too dim. - Ron
