Installing Windows XP

I bought an 80GB hard disk. I followed the installation
summary as prescribed by SEAGATE. I now started
installing Windows XP Pro. Initially, there was a long
pause after inspecting configuration before set up began.
On the first restart of computer, the following message
appeared: Boot failure: System halted.

I need help on what to do?

Eileen;
There was no need for the Seagate software and it may be the source of
the problem.
Follow this for a Clean Installation:

Be sure to delete ALL partitions and let Windows do it all.

Are you installing a SATA or ATA?
