XP PRO Installation Stalls

I installed my harddisk in a spare Dell Dimension XPS 300 after the power
supply failed on current PC. I checked and reformatted this disk planing on a
"squeeky" clean install of XP. The installation progressed smoothly until the
"INSTALLING WINDOWS" section began. With 34 minutes left (as indicated on the
monitor) the screen went black and the installation halted. I have repeated
this 3 times with exactly the same result. I am at a loss to know why and how
to continue. Any insight and help would be gratefully
appreciated............Thanks DBG

OF THE EXTRA HARDWARE FROM THE DEFUNCT PC AND THE DELL300 FINISHED LOADING XP
PRO. I THEN ADD THE ITEMS BACK, ONE AT A TIME AND THE NEW SYSTEM ACCEPTED
EACH ONE. I AM NOW IN THE PROCESS OF REPARTITIONING WITH PARTITION MAGIC. SO
