Installing the Zalman CNPS9700 LED Cooler

I have another chance now to do it right. Newegg.com just sent me back my
mobo, I returned it and I hope now this mobo works right. I'm not sure if
this is a new mobo, but it's not wrapped in plastic, so I figure it's the
same one that they fixed. Or the mobo wasn't the problem, we will find out
soon.
Now getting to the cooler, I want to install it so the hot air goes upward
towards the power supply and top exhaust fan, right? Now the plug wires that
come out from the device to the fan controller are on the side of the cooler
that doesn't have the Zalman emblem. Anyone who's bought one of these knows
what I'm takling about. This can save me some trouble. I installed it so the
outgoing wires to the fan controller were pointing upwards toward the power
supply, and the Zalman emblem was pointing downward towards the video card
and RAM sticks. I don't think that was the right installation?
Does anyone agree with that or did I have it installed right, and the hot
air blows out towards the controller wires?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, attilathehun1

reading the instructions or visiting the manufacturers website would be too
much trouble for Atilla...that's why I send him
something he will understand....a picture

Leythos, is that your reply. That's something you could keep to yourself and
is absolutely not needed. I need some constructive answers, like from Peter,
who has a brain at least. Leythos I don't even want to go into what you
should do with that reply.
Ok, now getting back to the answer I want. I looked at the picture you had
there, not you Leythos, your a non-bite, and it turns out the cooler is
installed 90 degrees the other way, not 180 degrees. I can't tell from the
picture which way the emblem is or which way the controller wires are. I
figure it's common sense that the hot air blows out towards the emblem, not
over the wires, but I guess I'm just going to have a 50-50 chance here. I
hope it's not a 25-75 chance, a 1 in 4 chance. I don't want to have to clean
off thermal paste 3 times.
Each time you install it and uninstall it, you run the chance of stripping
the screw sockets.
The way I'm thinking about installling it, the hot air would be blowing
right up against the power supply. The Picture shows that it would either be
blowing up against the fan, which I figure is an intake fan, or is blowing
over the mobo towards the RAM sticks. Possibly that's an exhaust fan and that
would be ideal.
Ok, so I'm going to install it so it's pointing 45 degrees the other way,
no 90 degrees, not 180. I had it installed so it was pointing towards the
video card and PCI cards, which isn't ideal. If the air blows towards the
Zalman emblem.
What's so hard to tell me, attila the air blows out from the emblem. Or the
air blows out towards the controller wires.
How hard is that, or is this a game to make the person so aggravated he
doesn't even want to get started.
And as far as bringing it to a PC tech again, I can't foresee myself
bringing it to a PC store. I've already brought it into the PC Club in El
Segundo and got charged 30 bucks, to uninstall and reinstall the video card.
It was stuck across 3 slots. I did learn for 30 bucks how to get it off
though if you have a stuck PCI card.

Ok, I just tried to leave a message to the support at Zalman's website, and
no go. Everytime I try to post a message an error appears at the bottom of
the screen, where Done is usually seen on your monitor.
Last time, web-support wasn't offered, they were having technical
difficulties. I"m going to install the cooler now, while the mobo is outside
the motherboard. I'm going to install it so the emblem is pointing towards
the RAM sticks.
I'll check back right before I put the thermal grease on. to see if there
are any more replies.
Thanks, attilathehun1

Ok, I just installed the bottom plate on the Zalman cooler and this time I
did it right. I oriented the cut-out on the top bracket to comply with the
diagram or installation video from Zalman's website. Now the installation
video makes sense. It wasn't all there when I watched it the first couple of
times, until someone here pointed out to arrange the cut-out to the CPU lever
arm. First time I installed it I almost got it right, the cut out was where
the lever arm clips down. It needs to be where the lever arm is when it's in
the open position, at a 90 degree angle.
Alright, I'm fed up with it now, without the correct reply. I want to know
exactly how to orient it in my computer. I don't want to do a dry run to see,
this way or that way or upside down or inside out. Which darn way the wind
should be blowing off of the cooler? Well, if I use the cooler that came with
the motherboard then it would be coming off the CPU upwards. Since that's not
an option with this cooler, I'm leaning towards the Zalman Emblem pointing
towards the RAM sticks, which doesn't seem right. Otherwise the Zalman emblem
will be pointing towards the fan, which is an intake fan, or I'm going to
find that out right now. Hold everything, I was looking for it, but must've
got off on something else and now my thoughts are on that precise idea right
now. If the fan is an exhaust fan then that explains everything. I'll
position the cooler to have the hot air go towards that fan.
Wait a second, brb.
Ok, Bingo!
The rear fan is an exhaust fan, so that's where I'm pointing the emblem.
Now, the only problem with that decision is that if the hot air comes off the
device towards the controller wires, then I'm not right, and I should point
the controller wire side towards the rear exhaust fan.
Can someone tell me for sure which way the hot air comes off the cooler, or
does anyone have a clue?
Oh, I get it, clueless!
Bingo again.
I'm not really in such a good mood, even though I just found out which way
to point the device. I'm almost 100% sure the hot air doesn't come out
towards the fan controller wires.
Well, that's a rap.
If someone wants to exact that point, I'd be greatful.
Thanks, attilathehun1
