I want to install the Windows Vista pre-RC1 released today, I downloaded and
burned the file to a dvd-r, when I try to run the cd the program used to burn
the dvd pops up, it does not give me any choice to install vista.

P.S. I'm running xp only

1) You need to use the checker for your downloaded ISO provided for the
download on the site.
2) When you burn the Iso to the CD, your burning software has a verifier
that the burn was correct. Use it.

Reburn Option:

1) Burn slowly. 4X should be fine. Some of this probably varies with the
DVD writer and the media.

2) Make sure to select an ISO tab if there is one on the burning software,
and make sure to close the session on the burn.

3) Try this tweak on your Windows XP drive and burn from there:

Get to Dev Manager by typing devmgmt.msc in run/win key + pause break or
Rt.click My Computer>Prop>hardware tab>Device Manager if you like 5 steps
instead of one cmd. If you're set to PMI here change to DMO and if set to
DMO change to PMI using these 5 steps:

1) Click the + in front of IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers

2) Double Click the Secondary IDE Controller

3) Click Advanced Settings

4) Under Device 1 Next to Transfer Mode choose DMA (or vise versa)>Click
OK

5) Reboot your System

6) Check your burn

* You need to use the checker for your downloaded ISO provided for the
download on the site.
* When you burn the Iso to the CD, your burning software has a verifier that
the burn was correct. Use it.

Signatures of the ISO file:
MD5 hash: e7f0a439e1e61d57ebf3c4f89e2f96d7
SHA1 hash: d1e7eaeb9893200c80e8a4902f2b012f3ff3eef6

Good luck,

Did you copy the ISO to DVD or use your burning s/w to burn an image, it
sounds like you just have a copy of the ISO on a DVD, what software did you
use to burn the DVD?

Carlos:
I gave up on Sonic when I had problems with x64, I’ve been using Nero 6.6
or 7.0 without problems. You have to burn the image to a DVD just like you
had to burn the image to CD with x64. The MD5 hash is very critical, I’ve
already seen postings about the hash not matching. My download this time was
good the first time but I had 2 corrupt downloads with Vista x64 b2. When
trying to download a 907 byte file may be downloaded which should be 2.58GB.
I had that problem, don’t know what caused it but I changed computers and
got the right file.
