I downloaded pre-RC1 Build 5536 burned it on a DVD and installed it on
Virtual PC
Everything worked without a hitch.
Great Job....

I installed 5536 on an HP ZV6000 notebook computer and it was the most
pleasant OS install I've ever done. Everything worked correctly right away
and all necessary drivers were installed without any problems. This is the
way a plug and play OS should be!! Can't believe this is a beta. I had so
many problems with Beta 2 that I gave up on it after a couple of days. Much
better this time around.

Ditto on the great job.

One is finding it a tough job resisting every temptation to go 32 bit

I'll see if i can hold on long enough to something with a 64 bit flavour

I have nothing but disdain for Microsoft right now!!!
I got 3/4 of the way through the download, with ABSOLUTELY NO
PROBLEMS, when SUDDENLY, the SERVER SHUT DOWN with a "File changed"
error.!!!

I about went through the ROOF with FRUSTRATION!!!

WASTED! 2.5GB of MY BANDWIDTH for the month!!! (I only get 17GB
before I'm FAPPED!!!).

NOW I can't EVEN RESTART the Download!!!

Nice going, Microsoft!!!

I guess I will have to wait till they send me the DVD!

I am SO ANGRY right now !!!

Unfortunately, there will be no X64 Version of 5536.

Currently, there IS an X64 version right now!!!
But it is CLOSED!
(I guess 100,000 idiots waited SECOND BY SECOND to grab a download,
KNOCKING ME OFF of a download which went EXCELLENTLY all day, and
suddenly STOPPED because they switched in midstride to RC1 rather than
PreRC1!!! I only had another 30-45 minutes to go!!!! What a bunch of
crap!!! I am so damn FRUSTRATED at Microsoft!!!

I still get issues with shutdown, the only dif from the build is i now get a
message sayings its a device driver but vista isent sure what device driver.

I still send the error report back, so... maybe it will be fixed in the next
build.

All my device drivers are MS ones, no unsigned bits, i will be going 64bit
with RC1 so I will see how that goes.

Beta 2 didnt work on Virtual PC but this one did and it took less time.
My guess is if it works on Virtual pc it will definitly work on a real one
and you know why its because Virtual PC is based on a Real PC....
few things i would suggest:
1 .On first time starting Windows - It asks for System Backup. I would say
ask user to do a Full Backup.
2. On First Boot it starts to download updates and Windows Defender makes
the system so slow it almost looks like the whole OS is bad. MS should work
on Defender first.
3. Windows Sidebar runs on startup which also slows the system.
4. On the First- Create a Wizard that ask users what they want to Run on
Startup
give them an option
1. Select from the list
2. Use default settings.
If I know what i want i will select Item 1 and go thru the list of items i
want to run on startup.
If someone from Microsoft can comment on this I would appreciate?

Thanks

So what did you do to make it work on Virtual PC? I got an error that it was
missing a file on the DVD (after I successfully upgraded one of my Beta 2
machines with the same thing).

At the CDL there is Vista English 32-bit only. Just FYI.

Whether it is still open or not, I only have so much bandwidth per 30
day period. I certianly don't want to be FAPPED.

I had been downloading at a steady 100-300KB per second, and had over
75% of the download, when the DAMN akamai SERVER reset!!! I lost
EVERY BYTE I had downloaded!!!

THAT is why I am frustrated.

Just FYI!!!.

Edward,

First I tried with the ISO image for Virtual PC it doesn't work because its
looking for a file size in multiple of 2.God knows what it means....

I burned the ISO to DVD and ran the install under Virtual PC - Use Physical
drive - it worked.

I also upgraded Beta 2 on a Real PC and it worked!!!!
I can't believe installation was smooth......

Maybe your ISO got corrupted. I did not use the AKAMAI or whatever name...
I downloaded directly from the link using Firefox downloader....
