RPC service is a program that is needed for the Print Spooler service to
run.
The Print Spooler service is needed to install your printer.

Your can check to see if the RPC service is running by looking at
Control Panel > administrative tools > services.

Look for Remote Procedure Call Service and make sure it is
set to automatic. And make sure that it is started.

However, if the RPC service is not running, your copy of XP
would have even more problems than not installing a Printer driver.
So it is unlikely that this is the real problem.

Have you installed this printer driver before?
