Installing driver for HP Laserjet 4200 failed.

When I add printer, click "Windows update" and then
select and installs the driver "HP Laserjet 4200 PCL 6"
the shell restarts and I get a "The shell stopped
unexpectedly and Explorer.exe was restarted." entry in
the application log.
I have tried this on several different 2000-installations
(server and professional) with latest servicepacks with
the same result.

Does anyone know how to succeed with the installation?
(I don't want to use any other drivers then the one
supplied by MS in my server-environment, so drivers from
HP are not a solution.)

Thanks.

Thomas,

There were some issues with the Windows Update site today. Try it again tomorrow and see if you have the same results.

Bill,

I have tried this for some time now (for over a week)
with the same result (tried again today).
The "issues with the Windows Update site" doesn't seem to
be the source of the problem.

Thanks for the help, but I can't find this printer in the list in "add
printer" on a standard W2000-installation. I have to click "Win update"
first.

Any idea where you got the driver from?

of course no. because its not MS driver, its not in Win driver repository.
You must press button "setup from disk" when you select printer model and
point to printer driver inf file
