I don't think my windows installer is working properly. I
cannot install many programs and get messages like this:
1670: Unable to install InstallSheild Scripting Runtime

Any ideas on how to rectify this problem would be highly
appreciated.

After viewing one of the web pages, I have realised that
the windows installer folder isn't there.

Any idea of how to recover this folder and it's contents?

Click Start/Run and type C:\Windows\Installer (to check if it exists). If not, see if creating the folder helps.
