installed outlook 2003. won't connect to email from web page

i had outlook 2000 and installed 2003 awhile ago and am using 2003. when i
click on a webiste email address, i get an error message that says "Cannot
start Microsoft Outlook. A program error occured. Quit Outlook and Microsoft
Windows and then start again." If, however, i simply copy the address and
paste it into the address line in outlook email it works just find. i think
the problem is that the website is somehow pointing toward the outlook 2000
version and not 2003. i can't delete 2000. how can i solve this problem?

OL2k would have been uninstalled when you installed OL2003
In Internet Connections is OL shown as the default email app?
Does the same thing occur if OL is running?
