Installation of any software

I am trying to install software and I have re-formatted the harddrive on
numerous occasions to be sure that nothing will interfere. I start the
installation for Norton Internet Security 2006 and it always stops telling me
that installation failed.....I have tried many different things to resolve
this and have not been able to figure it out......I am thinking that there is
something wrong with my XP Pro install.....help!!

Are you saying *all* software fails or just NIS2006?

NIS 2006 is not Vista-compatible.

Norton is an abomination - get a decent firewall/AV like Kaspersky.

It's much more likely to be something wrong with the Symantec product,
but what is the source of your WinXP? Is it a factory-manufactured CD
or a burned (copied) CD, such as one would create while slip-streaming a
service pack?
