AntiVirus problem with SP2 (URGENT)

I have just recently (last night) reinstalled my Windows XP Pro on my
harddrive. This morning I downloaded SP2 and installed it. Everything works
fine on my system and nothing seems to be going wrong. But I tried to
install Norton Internet Security 2005 after I installed SP2 and it would
start to install but about half way through, it would say that it cant
install. I dont know what to do. I need to install the software but I cant.
I dont know if it's because of SP2 or whatever. Should I remove SP2 and
then install the software, then re-install SP2? Or what should I do???
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP....!!!

The installation should have posted an error message. With that
information you can go to Symantec's web site and search their
knowledge base articles. Not uncommon for NIS to have some
problems, but I wouldn't uninstall SP2 to get it loaded. NIS has
some service requirements that your new install may not have
running properly, you may need to check your Event Logs and
resolve any Service issues before you retry the NIS install.

Did you install a firewall or are you going through a router to access the
Internet? If not then you are likely infected with a virus. Many viruses
prevent the installation of anti-virus software. Try one of the online virus
scanners. www.trendmicro.com works as good as any. If you did have a
firewall running then R.McCarty and Carey Frisch have given you good advice.
Symantec support should be able to resolve the issue.

The first problem is, you're trying to install Norton.
I won't let them near my machines anymore.
But if you contact Symantec, they 'may' have a solution.
