After installing new software on my computer I have to restart the computer
to finish the install. When the computer restarts I get errors. There are
about 5 error windows that come up. When I close one the next one comes up.
They all say: "This application has failed to start because MSVCR71.DLL was
not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem." The headings
on the error Windows are: YMETRAY.EXE, ccApp.EXE, Readr_SL.EXE and 2 windows
that are Retrorun.exe. These windows relate to Yahoo music, Norton Internet
Security, Adobe Reader and Retrospect Backup software. I’ve disabled my
Norton anti-virus and Internet Security and I've exited everything in the
tray and turned off the back up program but nothing helped. When I do a
search for MSVCR71 it’s there before and after I try to do the install. When
I have this problem there are some programs that don't work anymore and I
can't get on the internet. I had to uninstall the new software and do a
System Restore to get everything backi to working again. I was able to
install this software on my laptop ok but I want it on my desktop. Both
computers are running XP Home Edition SP2. I posted this problem before and
someone told me to check the event viewer for warnings. I did that and
didn’t find anything that helped. Does anyone have any more suggestions?
Thanks, Marc
