inserting blank CD's causes "drive is busy" message

F

Frendy Glasser

Whenever I insert a blank CD in my CD-R drive the drive
spins and spins and spins, when it finally gives up
Windows Media Player says that the "drive is busy".

I've always had problems with the drive behaving this
way. I have gone into the AutoPlay properties and
selected "No Action" for a blank CD but to no avail.

I remember there is a key I can press to keep anything at
all from happening when I insert a removable media into
the drive. But I can neither remember what it is nor can
I find where I first read about this feature.

Help!

I think it is the shift key you depress while inserting a CD to override
autorun.
