Inserting a blank CD causes my PC to crash!

Everytime I put a blank CD into my CD drive, my computer gives me the BSOD
with the following error message - Stop: 0x0000008E (0XC0000005, 0X806EE753,
0XB85373BC, 0X00000000).

I have tried using Media player 11, rolled back to 10, Real Player and
Winamp but my PC just gives me the BSOD everytime it tries to read the blank
CD. I have tried to update the driver but it says that no new drivers are
present. I have tried to roll back but it says no previous driver installed.
I have searched for this error message everywhere and still can't find a
reason!!

It used to work fine with no problems at all and I have also tried multiple
discs but to no avail! I've not installed anything else to do with the CD
drive neither! Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

Have you tried simply reinstalling the current driver? I'd just uninstall
the device in Device Manager and let Windows redetect it.
