Reboot when inserting blank DVD (cont)

It seems that I all of a sudden started getting reboots when I insert a blank
DVD disk for copying, it does not do this with original disks, sometimes no
matter what dvd program I use it will load up and reboot when it tries to
access the disk for copying. I have tried reinstalling programs etc and
different blank disks with no avail. I seem to think it is a software issue
either a driver with windows (since my TDK dvd drive did not come with
drivers which most dont anymore) or another file in windows that is corrupt.
Any help on this would be appreciated.

Ok, I took advice and unchecked the reboot when error occurs box and now I
get this stop message, I hope someone can tell me what it means.
STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x806EE753, 0xF1286838, 0x00000000).
Hopefully someone knows what this means..Thank you for the help

I had exactly the same problem a while ago. Although the error message was
of no help, I tracked the problem to a pie4ce of software that I had
installed a little while before. For some reason, it installed its own
CDDVD driver to burn CDs or DVD. It was the presence of this that was
causing an error when blank media was inserted. Deleting the offending file
(CDREAD.DLL IIRC but that might not be what's causing your problem), cured
the problem. Of course the CD/DVD burning ability was lost from the
offending utility.
