Info on troubleshooting a driver problem

Hi folks

I have a problem with running the Sims 1 game on a Windows XP Pro SP2
machine. I do not play this game often so I don't know when the
problem first appeared. From the looks of it, it seems as if it could
be a conflict between a display driver and the Sims game.

The game is fine until I go to the mode where I can build something on
a property (when switching to this mode the display normally changes
from showing a map to showing a property close up, with a menu on the
bottom). Instead of showing a coherent picture the screen displays
pieces of the whole, with some blank or blank squares randomly placed
on the screen.

No other applications are running on the computer when this happens.

A couple of questions I would like to ask troubleshooting this type of
issues:
1. Is there a utility that can help me to find out if a dll or a
driver has been loaded into a memory address used by another dll or
driver?
2. Does anyone know of any good books that would give more info about
troubleshooting driver/dll conflicts?

thanks,

JJ

You havent used winupdate for your display drivers have you?
If so install the driver from your vid card manu site, haveing read the
instructions on how to update.

And / or visit Sim site and check their tech support, there maybe a known
issue / bug fix
