"ialarmt5 display driver has stopped responding yada yada yada"

when im playing games windows randomly disables the drivers because they
"stopped responding". whatever game im on i get kicked back to desktop and
the display gets turned to lowest resolution and colours and i have to
restart my computer. the troubleshooters excellent advice of downloading the
latest drivers doesnt work, nor is disabling all 3d acceleration a good
solution because then i cant even play any games.

please someone help me with this because its been happening for ages and ive
scoured the microsoft site and my card manufacturer and i still cant find a
solution.

i got: toshiba notebook, winxp sp2 and my vid card is intel graphics
controller g 858288 or something like that.

ANY advice is greatly appreciated.

Update the Intel graphics drivers. Get them from Toshiba for your
specific model laptop.

Are you sure about the spelling of ialarmt5? Google gives no hits on it
except your post.

Happening for ages ? - Have you checked your System Event log ?
Drivers means more than just video. How down-level is your BIOS
flash code. Have you updated the Chipset drivers ? Problems like
yours could be interaction with other drivers or applications. PC's
require clean up and tune ups to optimize performance. It really
sounds to me like you may need professional help to get this resolved.
This isn't one of those "Install this and it's fixed" type of issues.

the only drivers i could find on the toshiba site are older than what
ive already got.

1. Then try the older drivers.
2. If that doesn't work - what games are you trying to play? That
graphics chip doesn't support many 3D games.

Hello,

Does this happen only when you are playing specific game(s) ? If so, you might want to check teh
minimum hardware requirements of the game and see if your onboard graphics adapter is good enough or
not. It is generally not a good idea to play hardware intensive games on a machine with a onboard
video solution.
