indexing network shared resources

Jan Kucera

Hi,
we have company data on a server, which is connected to every user using
network share (like Z:\).
I find the indexing feature quite cool and helpy, however useless on the
client's computers, since all data (thousands and thousands) files are on
the network share.
How can I turn on the indexing of network share?

Thanks,
Jan

Look at 'Indexing Options', click Start then type 'Indexing Options' and try
and add your z drive to list of locations to be indexed.

It has to be run through the server or the computer holding the network
share ) Simply go through the services.msc console, and enable "Indexer
Service", then go through the Control Panel and make sure the Index is
working.
