Making a folder readable on peer-to-peer network

Guest

I need a shared folder to be readable on a peer-to-peer 4-computer network.
However each time I select the correct share preferences and uncheck the
"read-only" box in the general preferences for that file folder and apply and
close, it automatically rechecks the "read-only" box and does not allow other
computers on the network to open the quickbooks company file.

Please help!

By default, all folders in XP show as read only and that cannot be changed
but it is not apply at user level. You can change the attributes of the
files within the folder and that does apply at user level.

In the case of QuickBooks, you may need to check your documentation or the
Intuit website for more information about how to accomplish this task. One,
you may need a version of QuickBooks that is specifically compatible with XP
as in designed for such an environment and second, if you don't have an
enterprise version of QuickBooks, what you are trying to do may not be
possible. As I stated above, you should check your documentation and/or the
Intuit website, www.intuit.com or with their tech support for more
information about whether or not this is compatible with your version and if
it is, how it should be accomplished.
