Indexing..Can I delete its contents file

Sterno

Not a big deal, but since I don't have any real need for Indexing, I
turned it off. However, since it was on during the first few days I
had Vista, I presume there is some dat file containing its search
data. Is there a way to delete this file(s)? How big do these Index
files get?

Thanks,
Sterno

Yep, you can delete it. You might retrieve approx. 100-200 mb of space if
that is your objective.

You can safely delete all the files under

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search

*except* for the .txt files, which you'll need should you ever change your
mind and want to re-enable search.

Thanks a lot for the help Jon.
