"images corrupted" message in Powerpoint 2003

Greetings!

I have a similar question to the one rnason posted back on 4/20/06 (copied
below)

I just had our IT department install PowerPoint 2003. I have presentations
that were orignally made in Powerpoint 2002, but are now in Powerpoint 2003
because the computer was upgraded.

When I move thse presentations to a laptop, I get a message that "some
images, text, or objects have been corrupted". However, when I check the
presentation, no images have been corrupted.

How do I get rid of this message?

When trying to save presentations made in our in-house templates after
installing SP2 we receive error messages indicating some portion (text,
images, or objects) of the file has become corrupted and will be replaced
with blank slides. However, it doesn't appear anything is missing in the
file when I save. Any thoughts!? Ideas on how to save the template to not
have this message appear?

I've not seen that exact message, and I don't recall if the original poster
got an answer or not, but I'd guess this could be resolved in a couple of
ways.

1. Make sure the latest service pack for Office 2003 (currently SP2) is
installed. PPT 2003 had a problem out of the box with displaying certain
images, cliparts, and objects (charts) from existing files. SP1 fixed that
(SP2 is just SP1 plus other stuff). To install the SP, open PPT and go to
Help|Check for Updates and install the latest service pack.

2. "Round trip" through HTML. That often weeds out the woolies.
http://www.pptworkbench.com/html/round_trip.htm has instrux.

I'd do both.

Thanks for the reply. I'd rather not have to convert each presentation to
HTML - it adds another step.

I think that there actually is some image somewhere in my file that may not
have been properly linked. I think I will review my 1400 slide file and try
to find the image, or just instruct my supervisor to ignore the error message
(too bad I can't just turn it off!)

Round-tripping is just a one-time thing, though, and only necessary on files
where you may have corruption.
