Image Toolbar in IE

How can I get rid of that annoying toolbar in IE that occurs when you mouse
over an image (and covers the descriptive pop up text)? I tried unchecking
"enable image toolbar" in Internet Options\Advanced, but no go. I also
checked tweakUI for a setting, still no luck.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
mxh

Did you restart IE after unchecking it? (It is necessary)
If not, try again.
If so, try again anyway as it works for me.

I can delve a bit deeper if necessary.

Yes. I have checked and unchecked the "enable image toolbar" option and
rebooted at least three times. It just won't go away.

OK. I didn't suggest you reboot, just restart IE, but that is probably
immaterial.

Go to the Registry.
Start-Run-Regedit
With "Enable image toolbar" unchecked, this is what you should see:

The 1st relevant key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

Enable_MyPics_Hoverbar no

The 2nd relevant key: (may wrap)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\AdvancedOptions\MULTIMEDIA\MYPICS

CheckedValue yes
DefaultValue yes
HelpID iexplore.hlp#50596
HKeyRoot dword:80000001
PlugUIText @inetcplc.dll,-4865
RegPath SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
RegPoliciesPath SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
Text Enable Image Toolbar (requires restart)
Type checkbox
UncheckedValue no
ValueName Enable_MyPics_Hoverbar

Do you have any variations from above?
If so, what?

Hi Alan,
Thanks again for your input. My reg entries are exactly as you specify.

You might have a look in
HKEY_local_machine\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
There may be an Enable_MyPics_Hoverbar value there overriding the one
in HKCU.

Nice thought, but no success. I even set the minimum image size in
TweakUI\Internet Explorer\Image Toolbar for 90,000 pixels, but the damnable
toolbar will not die.

Well, I guess if I've lived with it for this long, I can live with it until
the next re-install of XP or Vista (unless someone comes up with something).

Thanks again,
Hark

Now I am really out of ideas. Sorry.
I guess TweakUI has decided that the toolbar is not enabled, so does
nothing? I can only verify that TweakUI does work if the toolbar is
enabled. Have you tried enabling it and seeing if TweakUI then stops
it showing with a large number?
