I'm trying to change the text shadow color from gray to a darker .

I'm trying to change the shadow color of text in the text box. I can change
the color of the shadows for drawing objects just fine, but options in the
shadow toolbox are not available when highliting text.

If you want to change the color of the shadow on text, you will have to use
WordArt.

Sorry, Word can't shadow plain text in any color but gray. Have you
tried WordArt?
