IEEE 1394/Ethernet Conflict

I have subject problem between my ethernet and 1394 card. When you attach a
camera via the 1394 port a new Local Area Connection is created, which
automatically gets removed when you reboot. However, it screws up the DHCP
client service and the ethernet adapter no longer works. The 1394 port and
ethernet network ports are not bridged in Network Connections. The only way
to solve it that I have found is to do a restore to an earlier point prior
to the video capture.

I've seen a couple of posts relating to this problem, however, appears no
one has been able to fix. Any suggestions ?
TIA,
Pat

try this: go to control panel --> network connections --> 1394
properties uncheck tcp/ip, (or uncheck all of them) don't know this
will help, let us know.

Thanks. Did try this but it doesn't resolve the problem. Have tried a
number of things and at this point seems like my only recourse is to
reinstall XP and hope that solves the problem. Not ready to do that so
guess I'll live with it (the camera works fine with 2000, this is a dual
boot machine).

I finally got this problem resolved with the help of a couple of Microsoft
Support Pros. Finally decided I must have a corrupt Winsock/Winsock 2
install per KB 817571. Using method 1, I deleted the registry entries and
reinstalled TCP/IP over itself. All is fine and I can use my camera at will
without loosing my ethernet connection. Hope this helps.
